Justina Nekrašaitė’s work for the Bookstore Space sees her reflect upon the space model and also wider thoughts about the (Amsterdam) art world. This interconnects the culture of art exhibition openings, the contemporary art world and also individual (self-)reflection. Many conceptual aspects of the exhibition grew from thinking over the experience of three years of curating other artists’ exhibitions. This also includes failing, miscommunication, misunderstanding and disappointments. A lot of attention while developing the exhibition has been paid to the relationship with artists and the context of the space itself.
Justina has chosen to use the context of the objects and deconstruction of structures as the main core of the exhibition. “Celebrating 3 years’ inexperienced development” is the artist’s second solo show at the Bookstore Space. It is also the very last exhibition in the space, as the building in which it is located will shortly be demolished.
Just for the record, Justina Nekrašaitė worked behind the bar in the kitchen and also curated or coordinated exhibitions by the following artists:

Bookstore Space started the Pro-Gression program in 2015. The program has been realized with the support of the Leuwenstein Foundation and was established to give a new face to the existing Bookstore Space gallery and to offer opportunities to artists at the beginning of their careers. The exhibition of Justina Nekrašaitė is curated by Justina Nekrašaitė.
