Progenitor

About

Many people may question why Progenitor is used instead of a simple synonym like "Ancestor." This is attributed to the fact that this exhibition would not fit into a simple category.

Progenitor is an exhibition that looks to take you on a journey of discovery, appreciation and pride. In the mid-’30s, Professor Silpa Bhirasri seriously took it upon himself to educate his Thai students on the joys of art and keeping their identity within their art. Under his tutelage, Thailand produced one of it’s finest artists and saw the rise of other well-known artists that paved the way for the new generation.

This exhibition reflects on how the old generation has had an impact on the new generation of Thai contemporary artists. So as you walk through the gallery, allow yourself to be transported to a time when art was just blossoming in Thailand. Allow yourself to also feel appreciation for you are walking through the works of the Progenitors of Contemporary Art.
