Product Design London Degree Show from The Glasgow School of Art

It is degree show season again and your chance to experience The Glasgow School of Art’s unique take on Product Design this June from the 22nd – 24th at Candid Arts Trust, London. Framework, this year’s Product Design Degree Show, aims to engage and excite the public in a truly understandable vision of design. It showcases the work of 2017’s graduating designers from the Bachelors in Product Design and Masters of European Design programs. 

The projects on display are connected by a Framework defined by peers and studio culture and reflect the distinct perspectives, diversities and values that make up Product Design at The Glasgow School of Art. 

“In line with the objective nature of design speculation embraced by Product Design at GSA, there is no presumption that design projects need necessarily to ‘solve problems’ in order to have value. With a design process firmly rooted in the social sciences, our students understand that one of the many values of design thinking-through-making is the ability to give form to ideas whose time might be coming around the corner –even if they are conceptually surprising , unfamiliar or unattractive. We might refer to these as ‘future fictions’or ‘alternative nows’…the important thing is that they build on what we know of the world today to provoke enquiry, spark debate and challenge preconceptions about tomorrow.”

A key part of this Framework is placing people at the centre of the design process. Discover projects in collaboration with partners such as The Royal Bank of Scotland and Clyde Space, leading worldwide provider of satellites and small satellite spacecrafts based in Glasgow. Immerse yourself in innovative visions of the future and the alternative now with projects ranging from the future of education to the application of CubeSat technology. Come along to gain a new understanding of what product design entails and join in celebration of all the hard work put into the show. Framework is coming to London this June!
