(UN)SEEN, curated by Zoë Goetzmann at Hypha Gallery Fenchurch Street, brings together 21 contemporary artists exploring perception, visibility, and the tension between seen and unseen.
About
(UN)SEEN, curated by Zoë Goetzmann, is presented at Hypha Gallery Fenchurch Street in partnership with Aviva Investors, Eastern City BID, and CO-RE.
Bringing together 21 contemporary artists, the exhibition explores the threshold between the seen and unseen—where artists negotiate what is revealed and what remains concealed. Through painting, sculpture, and interdisciplinary practices, the exhibition positions perception as both a visual and psychological encounter.
Emerging from an interest in tracing the familiar and unfamiliar, (UN)SEEN considers how abstraction and figuration coexist. Gesture, material, and process become sites of disclosure, revealing traces of control and intuition while resisting fixed interpretation. Each work exists in a delicate balance between presence and absence, inviting viewers to confront the limits of perception and knowledge.
Tracing a lineage from nineteenth-century representation through Surrealism to contemporary abstraction, the exhibition situates perception as fluid and evolving. Artists navigate visibility through material experimentation and symbolic language, allowing meaning to emerge through sustained encounter.
