Join us for the opening reception and private view of a new exhibition at Edel Assanti, Tuesday November 24th, 6-8pm. The exhibition will include the works of Ann-Marie James.
Ann-Marie has just finished her new series of paintings that we will be showing at the end of the year, drawing inspiration from the oeuvre of Alphonse Mucha, an early 20th century Czech Art Nouveau painter.
In this new series, working on veneered wood, Ann-Marie replicates and manipulates her original drawings based on Mucha's work, to a point of delirious abstraction - yet in characteristic manner, the work retains a figurative, sensual quality, through her use of gesture and movement.
Edel Assanti was established in 2009 as an itinerant project space, collaborating with gallerists, curators and artists to facilitate exhibitions in central London.
