Pressure Drop presents artworks by Dongyan Chen (Singapore), Isabella Chydeniu (Finland), and Land of YZ (Poland) showing ways to “let the pressure drop” through the mediums of illustration, video, installation and performance. The show is an official entry of the 48h Neukölln festival.
About
The group exhibition presents works by female artists from diverse cultural backgrounds, responding to this years' festival theme "Kafayi yemek" ("it drives me crazy"). Arguing that, if you can't change your oppressive surroundings and the tensions of urban life, you can at least change your way of dealing with it. The presented works offer some imaginative examples of doing so, for instance, intercultural and telepathic communication, the re-imagining of ancient spiritual motifs into modern technology, the appreciation of femininity in all genders, and the artistic exploration of the topic of safe spaces. - Spaces away from stress and strife, such as represented by the spheres of spirituality, art, and club culture, transcending the societal divisions that create disquiet.
The show “Pressure Drop” itself aims to create one such space that taps the uniting and rejuvenating power of artistic expression! So instead of going over the boiling point, let’s engage gently and thoughtfully and immerse ourselves in the power of art.
