- Brighton station is just 10 minutes’ walk away. Turn left out of the main station. Continue downhill along Trafalgar Street, cross the main roads passing in front of St Peter’s Church, then turn left. Phoenix will be on the right, in front of the traffic lights.
This winter Phoenix Art Space presents PRESS+PLAY Festival of Print, a five-week celebration of contemporary printmaking that includes two exhibitions and a vibrant programme of events, courses and workshops.
About
The Main Gallery will feature up to 15 printmakers and collectives, whose work spans a variety of methods including screen-print, etching, cyanotype, woodblock and monoprint.
Selected artists for the Main Gallery exhibition are; Bill Brooks, Susan Clarke, Farrukh Addnan, East Side Print, Jane Campling, Caitriona Dunnett, Will Mower, Sophia McNab, Luella Martin, Brandon Seedhouse, Jane Fox, Renuka Ramanujam, Rachel Cohen, Ottilie Winfield and Andrea Abbatangelo. In the Window Gallery – our dedicated space for Phoenix studio artists – Patrick O’Donnell presents a new series of prints especially for the space.
A programme of day courses with local artists invites visitors to be inspired and learn how to create monoprints, gelli prints or linocuts of their own. Kemptown print studio East Side Print will also be hosting a drop-in taster session for those who’d like to have a go at screen-printing in a fun and relaxed environment. And families with young children are invited to come along to the Amazing Art Cart creative workshop, where they will guide you through designing and making your very own print to take home.
On 19 and 20 November the Tabletop Print Fair gives visitors the opportunity to discover and purchase original prints, cards and handmade items direct from makers, perfect as gift to yourself or a loved one this holiday season.
