For "Preservation" Johnson extends an open form score of original poetry, to be danced by Yuri Shimaoka with piano accompaniment by Forrest Moody. Winston Chmielinski will perform a text by redacting and reacting to his own writing and found passages, as Mira O'Brien presents an architectural, performative installation throughout the evening.

What to let rust
The score becomes a small step toward solving the impossible task of preserving ephemeral art forms. The evening's proceedings are structured around an 'event score', developed by Johnson and her collaborators, which serves as a script for how the artists' compositions weave into a larger structure.
