Viktor Petrov | Aline Schwörer | Kallirroi Ioannidou

About

galerie burster is pleased to present the awardees of the Preis des Präsidenten der UdK Berlin für Meisterschülerinnen und Meisterschüler der Bildenden Kunst Viktor Petrov (class of Prof. Bonvicini), Aline Schwörer (class of Prof. Streuli) and Kallirroi Ioannidou (class of Prof. Lammert) in a joint group exhibition. This will be followed by solo exhibitions of awardees. The Preis des Präsidenten der UdK Berlin für Meisterschülerinnen und Meisterschüler has been offered annually by the Faculty of Fine Arts since 1997 and is awarded to three outstanding master students. In addition to an exhibition, each award includes a monographic catalogue. The jury of experts under the chairmanship of the President of the UdK Berlin, Prof. Dr. Norbert Palz, selected the three prize winners this year.

Viktor Petrov

27 October – 5 November 2022

Viktor Petrov (*1991 in Pleven, Bulgaria) explores in his artistic practice the relationship between the social, architectural and autobiographical body. His installations and sculptures reveal the dynamics of power inscribed in everyday objects, architectural structures and personal relationships. Through the interplay between materiality, function and valence, he develops forms and figures that transform ideological systems of order into a state of instability and make them tangible.

Aline Schwörer

10 November – 19 November 2022

In her works, Aline Schwörer (*1993 in Germany) questions the interplay between humans, the environment and time. She sets up hypothetical future scenarios and fakes archaeological products. The series Torsion shows a complex, expansive installation in which different forms of life intertwine and form an independent ecosystem. In the objects, naturalness and artificiality merge inseparably, creating their very own taxonomy. The individual objects invite tactile interaction: sometimes they are soft and crumpled, sometimes they glow in the dark or water bubbles out of them. The viewers themselves become explorers of this future-visionary biotope.

Kallirroi Ioannidou

24 November – 3 December 2022

Kallirroi Ioannidou (*1986 in Stuttgart, Germany) works with drawing as well as painting and sculpture. Of overarching
relevance is the process: It is characteristic of her works that they develop over a long period of time. Ioannidou sometimes works on them for months, applying new layers again and again. In this way, a whole period of time becomes visible in the finished work, which touches on various themes. In the creation of her sculptures, the discovery of form also plays a decisive role – not only for the viewers, but also for the artist herself. She understands the forms of her sculptures as outlines of her paintings. The associative vocabulary results in a creative ambivalence that sometimes complicates the interpretation of her works. However, Ioannidou does not specify any level of interpretation and leaves the interpretations free.
