About
Collective practice They Are Here transform Grand Union into Precarity Centre. This transformation is a framework for an interdisciplinary programme of talks, videos, performance and installation exploring precarity. It is also an experiment in social space, seeding interaction between local precarious groups.
OPENING WEEKEND
Friday 5 February, 6–8pm
Launch features a durational audio-visual performance by Pouya Ehsaei, tarot card readings from Rosalie Schweiker, stop frame animation by Helene Kazan and installation by Ioanna Pantazopoulou.
Saturday 6 February, 2–3.30pm
Ioanna Pantazopoulou in conversation with Ruth Claxton
Ioanna Pantazopoulou creates ephemeral sculptural monuments and large installations out of unwanted and discarded materials. The sculptures follow the principles of architecture without being trapped in them. Ruth Claxton is an artist, Associate Director at Eastside Projects and co-producer of the Birmingham Art Map.
Precarity Centre runs until Saturday 26 March.
