Practice in Process is an exhibition and artist residency bringing together two artists who share a passion for drawing. Both graduates of Hull School of Art and Design, each has developed a signature style and approach that challenges the limits of conventional techniques and modes.
About
Each artist seeks to explore the familiar to its limits in different ways, ultimately rendering the familiar strange. Placing the figurative against the abstract with the observable world at its coore, each artist's work counterpoints the other -- in different approaches with similar inspirations.
Concentrating on line, Adam's approach explores ideas of rules, processes and repetitions. He produces evolving drawings, where each stage relies on the previous, gently morphing small, simple shapes into large abstracts.

Through his painting, drawing and performance, Matt attempts to transcend the ordinariness of his suburban surroundings. Matt's drawings are conveived in his ritualised wanderings of the Bricknell estate and then realised through his automatic mark making process.
