Powerplay

About

Please feel very invited to join tattenbaum-deluca + special guests for a spot of Powerplay, Thursday 24th October at Toynbee Studios. This multi-disciplinary event will see performances, interventions, artworks and an open-panel discussion that respond to ‘powerplay', making the case for/against performer-audience interactivity. We are interested in many of the discussions going on in the arts, and in popular culture, about audience participation, agency, ‘customisation culture' ... (blog journalism, tweeting an event your feedback/thoughts, Apple's app store or Nike's design-your-own-trainer experience...). Despite (or perhaps because of) this we feel that, as consumers, there is a high expectation that our cultural experiences will be well facilitated. That we will be given an appropriate number of options + appropriate set boundaries + appropriate directive/facilitative/supportive environments in order to best achieve our own participatory potential. ...We don't want to be told how to have fun, but we don't want to be left in charge of making our own fun either... Expect thoughtful provocations, humorous interventions and the perfect level of hosting facilitation to meet your personal audience preferences. Featuring performance/intervention/artwork from: Robin Bale/John Boursnell/The Bitchuationist (Ali Matthews)/ /Drunken Chorus/Mouths of Lions/Trine Munk/Jane Munro and the Visitors
