Pouring into an Array of Characters ist eine Ausstellung über Formen der Verbundenheit und des Austauschs mit Dies- wie auch mit Jenseitigem. Mit künstlerischen Arbeiten von Chiara Fumai, Omsk Social Club, Tabita Rezaire und Saya Woolfalk wird die Galerie im Turm zu einer spirituellen Lounge, in der Elemente von Science Fiction, Okkultismus, Meditation und Spiel aufeinander treffen.

Die Doppelbedeutung des englischen Wortes 'character' weist dabei nicht nur auf Personen hin, sondern auch auf fiktionale oder abstrakte Figuren, Buchstaben und Symbole. Während Chiara Fumai in ihren Arbeiten als Medium agiert und mit historischen, oftmals marginalisierten Frauenfiguren in Kontakt tritt, nutzen Omsk Social Club Methoden des Live Action Role Play und Real Game Play, um soziale Situationen herzustellen, in denen Spieler*innen Fiktionen oder potentielle Realitäten erproben können.

Saya Woolfalk entwirft eine fiktionale, symbiotische Spezies in deren hybriden Universum Dichotomien außer Kraft gesetzt werden. Jenseits westlicher Denktraditionen beschäftigt sich Tabita Rezaire mit dynamischen Netzwerken in technologischer, spiritueller und biologischer Hinsicht. Pouring into an Array of Characters stellt gängige, rationalistische Vorstellungen von Wirklichkeit in Frage. Wie können wir einen offenen Raum schaffen, um unser Dasein in Beziehung zur Welt neu zu bestimmen?

Pouring into an Array of Characters is an exhibition about forms of connectedness and exchange with both the here and now and the otherworld. With artworks by Chiara Fumai, Omsk Social Club, Tabita Rezaire and Saya Woolfalk, Galerie im Turm becomes a spiritual lounge where elements of science fiction, occultism, meditation and play come together.

The double meaning of the word ‘character’ refers not only to people, but also to fictional or abstract figures, letters and symbols. While Chiara Fumai acts as a medium in her works and makes contact with historical, often marginalized female figures, Omsk Social Club uses methods of Live Action Role Play and Real Game Play to create social situations in which players can explore fictions or potential realities.

Saya Woolfalk creates a fictional, symbiotic species, that suspends dichotomies in its hybrid universe. Beyond Western thought traditions, Tabita Rezaire investigates connectivity and dynamic networks in technological, spiritual and biological respects. Pouring into an Array of Characters questions common rationalist notions of reality. How can we create an open space to redefine our existence in relation to the world?
