About
A substantial body of work consisting of larger than life screen prints by local artist Ollie Arthur-Banes, poking fun at everything from North Korean propaganda to contemporary UK adverts.
Bodies of work featured in the exhibition
Concentrated Luxury - All Promise, No Products - A body of work, including screen-printed posters and zines, that investigates the portrayal of common themes and messages in contemporary UK advertising, interpreted through the repurposing of their content. I created a set of silkscreen prints and digitally printed fabrics, then reformatted this imagery to t different physical applications such as zines, business cards, and rubber stamps. I regularly maintain social media and online content, and can prepare artwork for print and web use using Adobe Suite.
Great Dictators - A selection of satirical posters inspired by the absurdity of dictatorships. The posters primarily focus on the myths surroundng the ‘Kim Dynasty’ of North Korea and the iconic appearance of dictators throughout history. I rst edited and collaged photographs to create compositions, then converted these designs into silkscreen prints.
I then reformatted the imagery using the Adobe Suite, producing merchandise such as badges, stickers and postcards. I enjoy developing logos and brand identity to my projects to create continuity in my designs.
