A double bill screening and discussion of 2 short films by Andrew Wilson and Luboš Zvičina
About
In recent years the statement NASA LIE THE EARTH IS FLAT NO CURVE has been repeatedly scrawled across the city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Maybe it doesn’t mean anything but, then again, maybe it does...This 30 minute moving-image collage, made entirely from found footage, is a playful and poetic reflection upon the current social and political moment, via the steadily growing sub-culture of ‘Flat Earth’ theory.
Andrew Wilson is an artist based in Newcastle. He is a studio holder at The NewBridge Project, an initiator and journalist with We Are Our Media, and often collaborates with artist Toby Lloyd as Lloyd-Wilson.
Mission to Mars
A short film by Luboš Zvičina
Launching a rocket ship into space from his local town square, Zvičina blends romanticism with a rational obsessiveness in an unlikely search for both real and imaginary landscapes.
Luboš Zvičina is an artist based in the Czech Republic. The film also Includes original soundtrack recorded by the artist’s granddaughter, Monica Dvorak-Platten.
