The Brick Lane Gallery is proud to present our PORTRAITS exhibition, which encourages us to reinterpret our perception of this genre. These UK and international artists explore portraiture beyond representing a person's likeness; they have the need of capturing their sitters personality and spirit. The representations are widely different as they all focus on different aspects and their approaches are an example of the variety of this genre in contemporary art.
Dorcas Osei desires to display the moments, which represented their ambition to look unique, distinctive and memorable. She wants to go beyond what the eye sees and wants to reveal what the mind thinks and by doing so demonstrating an artistic take on how feelings can be shown through pattern work. Wladyslaw Nieweglowski is interested in the human being - his condition and existence – so he is also interested in the intellectual and sensual experience of reality - in all it`s aspects. He likes to create with liberty, allowing pieces to be unpredictable.
You are warmly welcome to join us for a drink with the artists at the opening night of PORTRAITS at The Brick Lane Gallery open from 6pm-8.30pm on Wednesday 3rd February 2016.
