An exhibition of portraits by Maureen Domoney, Artist in Residence at Hurtwood House School 2019.
About
During her year’s residency Domoney has focused on painting the staff and students that make up the diverse community found at the renowned school. These traditionally rendered oil paintings explore her fascination with the rendering of light and shade in the manner of the Old Masters. There is a particular affinity shown with Dutch portraiture.
The work on show is unified by the artist’s deft use of chiaroscuro and love of painterly application. The paintings in the exhibit clearly converse with each other, yet manage to retain the individuality of each sitter.
