About
We are so excited about our Spring Portrait Exhibition and hope you will make plans to join us! This special exhibition is devoted to portraiture created by 11 talented artists from across the world. They challenge our view on this genre by exploring and depicting artworks in an innovative and imaginative way, presenting different approaches to portraiture through the use of colour, unusual shapes and sometimes physically raw depictions of their sitters.
Drawing inspiration from Baroque and Impressionist Masters to Palaeolithic cave men, Nina Greenwood creates striking portraits, which besides achieving true likeness create a relationship with the viewers. Her unique practice, achieves the depth and tonality of oil paint whilst retaining the freshness and apparent spontaneity and graphic precision of her new technique. Joy French presents colourful and bold artworks. She is fascinated by the people she meets everyday, they inspire her and she is drawn by them. She imbues her portraits with electric colors and expressively abstract flourishes. With an enlightened dark palette, Josée St-Amant presents unsettling works, which explore human beings. He creates artworks with certain blurriness, in a way ensuring presence in a certain absence.
Join us for the preview of PORTRAITS on Wednesday 29th April 6pm – 8:30pm at The Brick Lane Galley. Not only will there be beautiful portraits on display, but you will have the opportunity to meet the artists and learn more about their outstanding works.
