Taking the archetypal elements of a playground: swings, slides, climbing frame and combining them with advanced musical engineering, the end result is a landscape of playground activities transformed into a giant musical instrument.

About

Polyphonic Playground is a site specific, interactive sound installation by Studio PSK. Originally commissioned by the Fashion Space Gallery, London College of Fashion and developed in collaboration with musician Reeps One, it is inspired by the inherent joy of using playgrounds as a child. Taking the archetypal elements of a playground: swings, slides, climbing frame and combining them with advanced musical engineering, the end result is a landscape of playground activities transformed into a giant musical instrument.

Transforming the House of Vans gallery tunnel from Friday 29th January to Sunday 21st February, Polyphonic Playground has previously toured Art Basel in Miami, Milan Design Week & The London Design Festival to lauded success.

Award-winning beatboxer Harry Yeff aka Reeps One will open the show with a demonstration on Friday 29th January.

The installation will include a timber framework, built recreating iconic playground pieces to an adult scale. Using conductive paint, tape and yarn to create MIDI triggers out of steps, slides and swings the structure will spring to life & evoke the joy of the playground under the archways of House of Vans London.

Upholding its commitment to fuel creative expression, House of Vans is proud to host this highly interactive exhibition which will be complemented by music workshops and a calendar of private jam sessions reserved to London's upcoming bands and artists.

Join us from 7pm on Friday 29th January for an exclusive first look.
