PolyChromatic Linear Motility
Dee Lawrence’s current abstract collection celebrates the colours, activity, space and movement of peoples during Carnival. The collection questions the interaction of colours on surfaces and her ability as an artist to transmit an emotional narrative to the viewer via colours and paper placement.
Plain, textured and polychromatic paperstrips are architecturally wrapped and manipulated on the surface of canvas to create linear, weaving and kaleidoscopic movements exploring colour, space and form through an abstract composition. Paper represents people, man-made forms, environments and the natural spaces the carnival travels through. The polychromatic and block colours represents the human and environmental emotions expressed and seen during Carnival.
