Polly’s Picture Show is taking over HMK! The artist collective is inviting 23 artists to create new work. Following the ideas of artist Constant Nieuwenhuis – a proponent of experimentation and creative play - Polly's Picture Show fills the chapel with wood, paint, chalk, a photocopier and many other materials to literally create a playground for artists. The coming weeks the space will continuously change: the invited artists may use any object or material, move or transform them, with the only rule being the use of the objects chosen byPolly's Picture Show. Sculptures are built, demolished or used for photos, video and/or sound recordings. Time and again the same objects play a different role in the work of various artists.
During this process HMK is open to the public from Wednesday to Saturday. At the end of the work period, Polly's Picture Show composes a presentation. This presentation is both exhibition, collective installation, and a studio, consisting of a combination of existing objects, artworks and documentation. Polly's Playground blurs and redefines the boundaries between artist and curator, between work, object and presentation.
