About

The Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA) will present Point/Counterpoint: Contemporary Mexican Photography , featuring work by nineteen contemporary Mexican photographers, each of whom examine themes of contemporary displacement and utilize a variety of practices to explore recent, and often difficult, political, economic, and social realities of contemporary Mexico. Featuring more than one hundred works created between 2000 and 2015, including individual photographs, groupings of works, installation pieces, and videos, the exhibition will be organized by themes, including family/class, otherness, religion, drugs and violence, landscape and terrain, history reinvented, and gender and body, and will challenge audiences to reconsider expectations of photography in Mexico during this period
