Join Pocket Arts for an evening of emerging artists inconversation. Process, performativity and space seem to be some of the most critical key words in current emerging artist practices. Through this optic, four emerging artists will discuss and explore their practices in an open conversation evening at the Austin Forum.
Time: Tuesday 9th June, 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
About
Emerge -To come forth, to become known, to come to light, to rise
There seems to be an ever-increasing focus on the emerging these days. Various spectators and art world groups, from collectors and curators to writers, are showing a passionate interest in emerging artists. Collecting the emerging is becoming increasingly appealing, graduate shows have become stages for media frenzy, and more and more gallerists and art spaces decide to showcase the works of young budding artists. But what is the emerging today and what does it mean to be emerging?
A group of young artists will discuss what their respective practices entail, with specific attention to the themes performativity, space and process – as these seem to be key words when looking at emerging practices today. They will also look at the challenges of being someone who is emerging and working to become known.
