Plusgood invites artists Ada Egg Koskiluoma, Chen Di, Ellie Wyatt, Hampus Hoh, Matilda Moors and Vanessa Lam to reflect on the present non-linear modes of engagement/alienation within the society of the spectacle.
About
Alienation, as a characteristic feature of modern capitalism and commodity fetishism, has become the repercussion of the hidden labour within a fragmented technological production whose process is experienced as a loss of reality. The works on display narrate a spatial fiction that informs the viewers of our constructed visual normality that is always temporary, contingent, and partial.
Plusgood is an invented vocabulary from the Newspeak, a language invented by George Orwell in his book 1984. Plusgood replaces the word ‘better’ and indicates a simplified English language that has been invented to mislead and manipulate the public.
Highlighting the new paradigms of vision and thought, Plusgood encourages the visitors to reflect upon the uncanny norms in our lived environment, triggering a state of transition and mobility as opposed to stable certainties and fixed parameters.
