Agora Gallery presents Plurality of Expression and Emerging Visions, two collective exhibitions that celebrate the different ways today's artists approach aesthetic.

About

Plurality of Expression includes abstraction, surrealism, still life, and portraiture, each with a twist that pushes them beyond the usual boundaries of genre. A photographer creates "portraits" of women covered or wrapped in various tactile substances in a meditation on womanhood, and on the next wall over a painter superimposes stark, one-dimensional earthly beings onto rainbow-colored paintings of the heavens. Emerging Visions also features a vast range of artists, with an emphasis on technical exploration. One artist creates his paintings by cutting up and repurposing panels painted by other people, while another creates landscapes by painting layers of dynamic, forceful strips of color.

The magic of both exhibitions is dependent on the diversity of the work on display. Only when placed side by side do the images fully reveal how many little decisions and gestures go into their creation. With Plurality of Expression and Emerging Visions, Agora Gallery presents a deep study on both the mind and hand of the artist.

Both exhibitions begin January 21, 2017 and runs through February 10, 2017 with an opening reception on January 26 from 6-8 pm. Entrance is free.
