Playback Festival 2018 brings together the work of over 300 emerging artists in one interactive exhibition of short experimental films, alongside an extensive events programme.

About

Playback Festival 2018 brings together the work of over 300 emerging artists in one interactive exhibition of short experimental films, alongside five days of screenings, live spoken word performances, discussions, pitching opportunities and practical workshops. All entirely free to attend.

Premiering 95 short films alongside award-winning works, the Playback exhibition features work made by artists aged 16-24 with Channel 4 Random Acts. Watch rolling projections or select what you want to see on one of ten interactive screens.

Exploring ideas and issues pertinent to the film industry, spotlighting new work with premiere screenings and opening up doors for aspiring talent, the festival’s events are open to filmmakers and film viewers alike.

Playback and Resident Advisor have offered established and aspiring artist filmmakers aged 16-24 the opportunity to pitch an idea for a commission to produce an experimental short film about electronic music.

Hold tight for the full programme to be announced in the New Year and keep in touch at @ICALondon #Playback2018

Playback Festival 2018 is the culmination of a year-long tour of the Playback exhibition that travelled the length and breadth of the country, travelling to 20 arts venues from Newcastle to Plymouth and was visited by over 30,000 people.

With 95 new short films added to the exhibition, we are back at the ICA for the last stop on the tour and a celebration of artist film and creativity.

All films in the Playback exhibition were made by artists aged 16-24 as part of Channel 4 Random Acts and funded by Arts Council England
