Next to Nothing is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Rachel Grobstein.

About

Taking over the back space of the gallery, Rachel Grobstein will be exhibiting her latest collection of paintings and Bedside Tables.

Each of her pieces is neither a painting or a sculpture, and yet is both - her "paintings" are actually highly intricate collages consisting of tiny painted images pinned into the wall. Each pin casts its own tiny shadow and the painting floats off the wall in a fantasy whirl of tiny objects. Grobstein uses her wall paintings to reflect her concern over the growing atmosphere of junk that is accumulating in outer space.

The bedside tables are catalogues of the daily world, where routine meets personal identity.  Using pictures of real-life bedside tables and nightstands from strangers and people she knows, Grobstein meticulously recreates the objects that remain closest to her subjects as they drift off into dream land...
