Picasso: Art of Genius

About

Exhibited in County Hall Gallery alongside the Dalà Universe, Picasso is an exclusive collection of over 100 rare and unseen works from 20th Century's Spanish master, Pablo Ruiz Picasso. The exhibition offers visitors an unforgettable overview of the legacy of two legendary 20th Century artists.

Picasso features important works spanning three decades of the artist's career and includes ceramics, breathtaking tapestries, lithographs and etchings. The artworks on display are also complemented by a series of black and white photographs of Picasso taken by Andre Villars, a photographer much admired by the artist.

Etchings and Lithographs
These pieces are major feature of the Picasso collection, and include the works Un Eventail, Helene Chez Archimede, Les Bleus de Barcelona and Dans L'Atelier de Picasso . Created at the height of Picasso's fame these images illustrate Picasso's unparalleled artistic prowess and mastery of graphic techniques.

Ceramics
Created by Picasso whilst at the famed Madoura pottery in France, the ceramics on display combine the art of sculpture and painting in one single creative expression. This series of pots, vases and vessels bear testament to Picasso's highly original form of expression.

Tapestries
A selection of rarely viewed wall tapestries created from world-famous and iconic cubist images, these pieces form part of the collection inherited by the artist's granddaughter, Marina Picasso. These wall tapestries depict some of the most well-known themes and images of Picasso's illustrious career.

Photography
A collection of black and white photographs of Picasso taken by Andre Villars. Villars was one of the artist's favourite photographers and was bestowed the honour of capturing intimate shots of Picasso at work in his studio and at home.
