Abstract photography takeover of a Victorian terraced house. Awarded images of cityscapes, landscapes, treescapes, macro botanicals, and boathouses.
As part of Cambridge Open Studios, photographer Sara Rawlinson opens her home and studio each July for the public to come and see her latest work. Her Victorian terraced house is transformed into a contemporary art gallery for the whole month. All are welcome.
Rawlinson's recent work involves abstracted landscapes, cityscapes, and botanicals using intentional camera movement. These painterly-like photographs encompass the essence of the place or thing, rather than specific details. She is also working on a new boathouses series in a collaboration with a painter. Her earlier work focused on historic architecture within Cambridge - specifically King's College Chapel and historic libraries at Cambridge colleges.
Over twenty of Rawlinson's images and two of her self-published books have been awarded in both UK and international competitions.
Expect to see limited edition archival pigment prints on both paper and canvas, prints on oversized outdoor tapestries, and a greenhouse full of recently-awarded treescape images. Hardcover and handmade photobooks are available.
The location is just two blocks from Cambridge's Midsummer Common. Light refreshments on offer. Nearby several riverside pubs and many other artist's open studios. Make a day of it!
Part of Cambridge Open Studios, one of the oldest artist-run open studio events in the UK. This year, over 370 artists are opening their doors.
