The exhibition celebrates artworks created in the photographic medium using a wide variety of approaches; presenting a range of modern photographs, experimental series, and new and unseen projects. Due to the artists diverse background, the show also allows visitors to experience the different influences, themes and techniques applied in global contemporary photography.
One of the exhibiting photographers, Anton Winzer, presents his current series, which focuses on the change of a normally finished photo work through dissolution into something completely different. Taking an already perfect product and physically dissolving it in order to point out the impermanence of life and the simple process of dissolution. Francesco Mangiaracina works with black and white analogue photography, using the physical elements to uncover anything that the image is capable of evoking. The results are fascinating examples of the precious imperfections of the analogue process. It is his belief that within the folds of imperfection of an image that holds not only our memories, but has space for our fantasies, hopes and aspirations; giving us a different view of our existence. Each photographer provides innovative, contrasting and alternative ways to explore a wide variety of themes.
You are warmly welcome to join us for a drink with the artists at the opening night of PHOTOGRAPHY NOW at The Brick Lane Gallery open from 6pm-8.30pm on Wednesday 20th July 2016.
