Mapping a Global Photography Practice

About

Please join us with our special guests Miranda Gavin (Hotshoe International), Nick Kaplony (Artquest) and Simon Terrill (artist) in conversation, chaired by Daniel C Blight of the Photographers Gallery. Drinks will be served. Admission free. All welcome! Theme - Mapping a Global Photography Practice As London becomes an increasingly competitive place in which to establish a solvent creative practice, emerging artists/photographers are looking increasingly further afield for both inspiration and opportunities. Thanks to ever-evolving networks driven by the internet, it seems easier & more attractive now than ever for practitioners branch out to other countries and continents to complement or even replace their 'home' practice. How might international opportunities such as artist residencies or open calls influence/inspire the paths and practices of today's emerging artists? Do the advantages outweigh the challenges? The panel guests will share their thoughts, experience & expertise on the current 'global' field, followed by a group conversation. Questions will be invited from the audience. The venue remains open until 7pm, offering the audience a chance to view the brand new work on show from 27 emerging photographic artists.
