After “The Night of the Moles” (2017) Philippe Quesne now brings his latest work and HAU co-production to Germany for the first time, right after its premiere in Paris.

About

In “Crash Park – La vie d’une île” the director, visual artist and scenographer invents an island inhabited by a few palm trees and some random animal species, whose peaceful environment gets thrown into disarray by the arrival of plane crash survivors. The fable about the trials and tribulations of human nature takes a new look at the myths and symbols of the island. Even the title “Crash Park” sounds a bit dystopian. But what if the crash is considered not as the inescapable and fateful end of our human trajectories but as a beginning? What comes after the forced catastrophe, the end of accepted, authorized and organized speech? In his unmistakable style, Philippe Quesne takes off on a journey between an archaic theatre that indulges itself in beginnings – the beginning of the world, the beginning of language (where it is not always about words), the beginning of images – and the revived experience of a present that always comes next.
