Expecting the Terror

About

Ormeau Baths Gallery hosts ‘Expecting the Terror', a provocative new exhibition from the internationally acclaimed artist, Philip Napier. The exhibition, which is curated by Ormeau Baths Gallery Exhibition Manager, Feargal O'Malley, will see the Northern Irish artist explore particular local and international dimensions which have continued to inform the body of his work and projects. ‘Expecting the Terror' will comprise of a series of sculptures, installations and a performance piece. The artist considers the Northern Irish context as a theatre for focusing on larger expanded issues of authority, control and sovereignty which are in transition. Napier explains his works and projects as being made initially in relation to ‘environments of emergency provisions through to negotiated political transformation, to our post conflict conditions of conspicuous consumption.' ‘Expecting the Terror' will see the artist referencing modern and historical events and places; cutting into the future by connecting the past to the present.
