Philip Hogben was born in Derbyshire in 1945; he studied at Winchester School of Art and Derby & District College of Art. He was a Senior Lecturer at Falmouth School of Art until retiring in 2010. He lives in Cornwall.
Hogben has been exhibiting professionally since 1977 when he was awarded The Westward Open Painting Prize. Since then he has won the Ferdinand Zweig Travelling Scholarship to Sweden and a South West Arts 'Major Award for Painting'.
Solo exhibitions include; The Royal Cornwall Institute; Beaux Arts, Bath; Usiskin Contemporary Art, London and The Great Atlantic Gallery, Falmouth.
