An artist based in Cornwall his work engages with landscape as both a physical place as well as a psychological space. The exhibition will consist of both images of Cornwall as well as examples of his work dealing with Srebrenica.
The work for this exhibition is Phil Whiting's response to his visit to Bosnia in 2005 with the charity 'The Fund for Refugees in Slovenia' and to the landscape around where he lives in Cornwall. The work is elegiac in nature and can be understood poetically. It is not simply a series of topographical representations of places. Each painting was a visit to a place of mourning.
Phil Whiting will be discussing his work at BayArt on Sat 16 Aug, 12pm. Everybody welcome.
