This exhibition will present the work of UK based artist Phil Redford.
Phil is working in contemporary painting and will present a new body of painting works.
About
Painting has always been Redford’s central practice while having also made prints and books and lectured printmaking. His imagery has formed and reformed through time from the non-figurative to the figurative, sometimes focusing on urban figures. His interest in classical music and opera has resulted in artists’ books of which Redford has produced ten so far. Five, based on Wagner’s music dramas, are in the British Museum collection of artists’ books.
Phil Redford has a solo exhibition in London’s Brick Lane Gallery in April.
Redford studied in Brighton from 1960 to 66 (post grad printmaking 1965-66). He retired from Leeds Metropolitan University in 1997 after 30 years. He has also been a Part-time tutor for York Foundation from 1977 to 2002 and was an Exhibition Organizer for Leicester Society of Artists from 2012 to 2015.
