New small sculpture and drawings
Using only hand tools Peter Randall-Page has carved small sculptures with a continuous line, dividing the surface of a stone into two ‘territories’. This linear exploration is carried onto new drawings.
About
This is an exhibition of inspiring new work by one of our most important British sculptors, Royal Academician, Peter Randall-Page, His works are embedded in the landscape and rise in significant forms as part of projects throughout the world. He has made seminal works at landmark locations, including the Eden Project and the Millennium Seed Bank. Many living locally will have encountered his work was closer to home, at Newbury Lock. Here, ‘Ebb and Flow’ rises and falls with the water levels of the lock to reveal an inner pinecone carved bowl.
“I as a scientist and Peter Randall-Page as an artist seem to find ourselves meeting again and again in the same place: with a fascination for the forms of the natural world not just for their own sake, but as portals to new ways of thinking and feeling.” Philip Ball is a scientist, broadcaster and author. His books include The Self-Made Tapestry: Pattern Formation in Nature.
