Peter Mitchell "Some Thing means Everything to Somebody" Book Launch and "The Vikings are Still There" Exhibition Opening
About
“Contemporary photographic culture would find it difficult to understand the impact that Peter Mitchell’s groundbreaking show A New Refutation of the Viking IV Space Mission had when it was shown at the Impressions Gallery in 1979.” Martin Parr, July 2013.
Village is proud to be exhibiting a selection of photographs from Peter Mitchell’s landmark series “A New Refutation of the Viking IV Space Mission”.
The series features formal portraits of the factory workers and small shop owners of Leeds and the surrounding area. Giving an impression of how the city might look through the eyes of an alien landing in the city for the first time.
The exhibition has been curated to coincide with the release of Peter Mitchell’s new book “Some Thing means Everything to Somebody”. Published by RRB Photobooks. We will be launching the book in store on the night of the exhibition preview, where it will be available at a special pre-publication price.
Drinks provided.
