About
Without a set narrative or singular theme, this installation explores the pluralistic language of photography in relation to materiality, installation, painting, video, and 3D works. MU is a Zen term that explores the space between conventional and dualistic meanings. It is a creative and expansive potential opening between an assortment set of complex binaries – of space and time, yes and no, between logic and the irrational. This playful exhibition examines a series of unexpected visual relationships and the creative overlaps between diverse bodies of artwork.
Peter Finnemore is a Freelance artist and a Visiting Fellow at the University of South Wales. Originating from existential enquiry, he seeks to “make visible”. Finnemore is noted for his long-term projects on the human condition, generational memory, home, nature, culture, history and the post-industrial landscape. Finnemore represented Wales at the 1997 Venice Biennale. His artwork is in a number of public collections, including Arts Council Collection, Princeton Museum of Art and Chrysler Art Centre. Recently he is included in the major international photographic book survey – Photography Today, Contemporary Photography since 1960 – Thames & Hudson, 2015. He lives and works in Wales.
