About
Our visual arts programme includes artists commissions, residencies, public art and exhibitions that take place on the Exhibition Wall and throughout public spaces of the building. We work with artists at all stages of their career, from students through to emerging talent and established artists working internationally.
Every April, we transform The Studio performance space into a pop up gallery. Previously, we have commissioned new work by Mary Redmond for Generation and Alex Frost and Mandy McIntosh as part of the supported programme for Glasgow International. This year we have invited artists Ruby Pester and Nadia Rossi to present new work as part of our experimental crossarts festival Outskirts.
Pester & Rossi are collaborating artists Ruby Pester and Nadia Rossi. The duo have been associate artists at Platform since early 2016. Since graduating in 2008, Pester & Rossi have been collaborating on a diverse range of projects, spanning sculpture, performance and installation. They are also part of the Glasgow-based band Fallopé & the Tubes.
Rooted in a do-it-yourself approach, the duo make imagery, handmade props and costumes that relate to aspects of the body and reference popular culture. They create immersive performances and social experiments that explore childhood nostalgia, public ceremony and a celebration of the home-made.
The duo’s work is informed and influenced by working directly with various communities; particularly groups of children and young people. During their time at Platform, the duo have been leading our Nu Gen art group for young people alongside making costume and inflatables for the Platform and Glasgow East carnival processions.
Pester & Rossi will be working in collaboration with young people at Platform, Fallopé & the Tubes and other invited local artists to produce a new live work at Platform for April 2017.
