About

Performance poet Dean Atta will perform readings from his poetry about the murder of Stephen Lawrence and from other works about discrimination in general. The session will be themed around the gallery's exhibition Tahera Aziz: [re]locate and there will be a Q&A session following the performance, at which Atta and Aziz will be present.

Atta has written poems for the Damilola Taylor Trust, Keats House Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, Tate Britain and Tate Modern. In 2012 he won the London Poetry Award and was named as one of the most influential LGBT people by the Independent on Sunday Pink List 2012. His debut poetry collection I Am Nobody's Nigger was published in 2013. Atta lives in London and performs internationally.
