About
‘When Sumerian Inanna, goddess of love, fertility and war, descends to the underworld to visit her sister Ereshkigal, she arrives ceremonially dressed and laden with her powers. In ritual fashion she is stripped of these and undergoes death at the hands of her sister, only to be resurrected by her devotees in the land of the living.’
Claire Hooper’s installation includes a new video work featuring remowned Asifa Lahore, 'Britain's First Out Muslim Drag Queen' playing the role of Inanna in a contemplative performance derived from this myth.
