PERCUSSION DREAMS is Emma Larsson's debut solo exhibition.
About
PERCUSSION DREAMS is Emma Larsson's debut solo exhibition. During a 5 months artist residency in Yucatán, México this past winter, the Swedish artist created a body of work that is inspired by her journey. The work is influenced by the local and indigenous culture, the climate, the challenges of finding balance in the unknown for her family, and a safe space to create in a foreign and temporary environment. This body of work is composed of works on canvas, on Huun paper (a traditional medium in Mayan culture) and on fabric.
"In native cultures the drum is a sacred tool connecting heaven and earth and maintaining the rhythm of the world structure. When drummers practice their art, it’s as if they are changing the world and touching the human spirit through the rhythm of the drum."
