'Pavilion Recaptured' by Said Adrus

About

In his latest exhibition, 'Pavilion Recaptured', the British artist Said Adrus reveals the forgotten history of Muslim Indian Army soldiers who fought for Britain during World War One and attempts to reclaim their place in the UK's national heritage.

The multimedia exhibition is the culmination of years of research into a desecrated Muslim Burial Ground near Woking, Surrey, and the story of the Indian Army soldiers buried there. Using a mixture of archive material and his own multimedia work, Adrus traces the paths of these men through four heritage sites across the South East and explores issues of affinity and loyalty to a place or nation, through themes of identity, memorial and heritage.
