About
To be conscious is not to be in time
-T.S Eliot, Four Quartets
PAUSE brings together the work of 13 artists from around the UK, selected from an open call and curated by artist, Anna Hussey. Inspired by HOUSE Gallery’s current hiatus, the exhibition explores the nature of a pause, encompassing ideas of temporality, uncertainty and the incomplete.
The exhibition addresses the significance of interruption in a culture where speed and efficiency are so highly valued, exploring disruption to communication and the importance of pause within language as well as how being conscious of the present affects our current and ever changing relationship to time.
Exhibiting artists: Nicholas Cheeseman, Daniel Curtis, Jessica Dally, Michael Dryden, Laura Edmunds, Simon Farid, Amy Hunter, Anna Macdonald, David McCulloch, Emmie McLuskey, Emma Stewart, Deborah Westmancoat, Rachel Wooller.
