Yorkshire artist Paul Dene Marlor recently scooped a top International Award, 'Professional Artist of the Year 2015' in the Society for all Artists at the prestigious 'Artist of the Year Awards' in London. Paul’s painting was selected as the best out of 6000 entries. His new exhibition features the winning painting and 30 new originals

About

New exhibition of paintings by UK's top artist. Paul Dene Marlor's painting of ‘Halifax Town Hall’ secured him the title of Artist of the Year. It was painted in watercolour; a medium which Paul specialises in. The painting was completed using sketches and photos taken after he had visited the scene. Halifax Town Hall is an exceptional architectural building designed by Sir Charles Barry, who also designed the Houses of Parliament.

"It is a local place that I have admired all my life; somewhere I’ve always wanted to paint. I tried to create more impact and emphasise the focal point of the beautiful Town Hall in the centre, adding some warm evening light hitting the buildings. I also added reflections suggesting it had just rained to create more atmosphere."

The painting was exhibited at the 'It's all about art' event, the biggest of its kind in the UK, held at the Business Design Centre in London where Paul was invited to attend to accept his award.

Congratulating Paul on his award, the judging panel commented that his exceptional watercolour painting stood out amongst candidates.  The 'SAA Artist of the Year' award attract entries from all over the world. Previous winners have included paintings from Malta, New Zealand, Oman, Brazil, Norway, USA and many other countries including the UK. The standard of the work considered for this year’s selection was outstanding, and this prestigious award had been whittled down from over 6,000 entries worldwide.

Paul who lives and works from his studio near Halifax, West Yorkshire said he was "honoured to win such a coveted award. 2015 has been a good year for me so far, in May I was also selected for the filming of 'Sky Landscape artist of the year' television programme where I was filmed painting a landscape scene at the National Trust property 'Lyme Park' in Cheshire, which will air in October on Sky Arts."

Paul's work can be viewed a new exhibition at the Harrison Lord Gallery in Brighouse. The Original painting will be on display from September 19th along with other new original works. Paul will be at the gallery for the opening between 11am and 1pm. See www.harrisonlord.co.uk for more details or ring 01484 722462
