Paul Chapman is a wood craft artisan based on the Isle of Wight.
About
He works with reclaimed and upcycled wood, laminating, cutting and carving it to make forms that want to be touched, held and looked at from all angles.
Most of the wood Paul uses come from old broken furniture, doors and skip finds as well as off-cuts and boards. He works with repeated forms, laminated and carved together to make much larger pieces. Living on the coast Paul is inspired by the beach combing, weather-worn wood, shell forms and how the golden ratio is present in natures designs.
