Passport is a mixed-media exhibition of short films, photography, and new media art that explores the connections between people and places. By bringing together artists from a wide variety of backgrounds, Passport aims to investigate both the uniqueness and universality of personal, social and cultural identity.
In a world that is so interconnected, yet divided by a lack of knowledge and understanding regarding cultural, political and ethnic differences, the exhibition attempts a reading of community and boundary through a personal lens. Structured as a walk-through experience into distinct, isolated rooms within the gallery, viewers are encouraged to immerse themselves in each artist's unique practice and reflect on those differences. By allowing the audience to interpret and compare each artists’ work freely, Passport seeks to encourage communication between individuals from various walks of life, while in turn enhancing one’s own cultural awareness.
