About

Parlour Principia isà‚ a one-off site-specific event: a combination of timed, durational and roaming performances, inhabiting different parts of Swedenborg House at different times, allowing the audience to encounter each when moving around the building. This performance hopes to explore the idea of invention as an act of spiritual communion, and the life and writings of Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772). The night will consist of a series of individual acts by contemporary performance artists; each act interpreting Emanuel Swedenborg's investigations into the relationship between matter and spirit. The Parlour Collective is an international group of contemporary artists. They are dedicated to exploring aspects of history from imagined perspectives, which draw inspiration from various traditions. The Parlour Collective produces shows which embrace the space they inhabit, forming an extension of history, atmosphere and mystique of the environment in which they are produced.
