Parlour Dictionnaire is a site-specific live-art event which examines the performance of language as a translation of the conceptual into the physical act of speech and writing.
About
Join us for an evening of live-art inspired by language and lexicography as we mark 261 years to the day since the publication of Johnson's monumental Dictionary of the English Language. View never-been-seen before works and performances by ten contemporary artists and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine whilst exploring the House.
Parlour Dictionnaire is a site-specific live-art event which examines the performance of language as a translation of the conceptual into the physical act of speech and writing. It presents new performance-based works from a variety of contemporary artists who highlight the uncanny elements within this translation, exploring the engagement with the act of language as a form of ritualised navigation through the shifting threshold between the visible and invisible. Each artist shall approach the role of the dictionary as a map of this territory; a physical remnant of the illusory act, exploring its creation and the vision which drove it.
